Their fifth album, titled “Otherness”, was released this Friday, June 24, after a 13-year period without a full project. This is the band’s first album since their 2009 hit “Old Crows/Young Cardinals”. The album’s debut is preceded by three singles: “Sweet Dreams of Otherness”, “Reverse the Curse” and “Sans Soleil”. Check out more details of this new release, which ends the group’s long hiatus.

Alexisonfire is a band of post-hardcore formed in St. Catherines, Canada. The group has four successful albums since their debut, namely “Alexisonfire” (2002), “Watch Out!” (2004), “Crisis” (2006) and “Old Crows/Young Cardinals” (2009). In the year 2012, however, the group announced their separation, and returned to action in 2015 for performances and shows. Over the years, the Canadians have released some unreleased songs, but it’s only this month that the long-awaited new album will be released.

The band has already toured Brazil this year at the Lollapalooza festival, which took place in São Paulo, from March 25th to 27th. In addition to participating in the event’s line-up, during their stay in the country, the group made additional presentations in Curitiba and joined the band A Day To Remember in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

“Otherness” ends the long period of 13 years without a full album by the band. The album was announced on March 10, along with the release of the track “Sweet Dreams of Otherness”, which inspires the project’s title. Members explain that otherness is an intrinsic part of Alexisonfire. This characteristic accompanies them throughout their lives, from childhood, adolescence and adulthood, and is responsible for bringing them together.

The second single, “Reverse the Curse”, was released on April 20, and is a song about facing your own demons. The most recent release, “Sans Soleil”, released on May 18, is a song composed by Wade MacNeil and follows the line of his last solo project, touching on personal themes. The lyrics are about keeping hope that problems and challenges will be overcome.

The band itself was in charge of producing each of the songs that make up the album, and according to the members, they were recorded and mixed in around a week. The tracklist has 10 tracks, which you can see below:

1 – Committed to the Con
2 – Sweet Dreams of Otherness
3 – Without Sun
4 – Conditional Love
5 – Blue Spade
6 – Dark Night of the Soul
7 – Mistaken Information
8 – Survivor’s Guilt
9 – Reverse the Curse
10 – World Stops Turning

Get ready to listen to the album, which is getting closer and closer to its release date. The heavy and aggressive sound of post-hardcore, full of electric guitars, drums and screams, will surely cheer you up and increase your energy to carry out day-to-day activities, such as work at the EAD physiotherapy college or transport, the way of your appointments.

Playing the ukulele has never been as cool and sexy as in recent years. The bag literally tore apart with artists singing mournful songs to the accompaniment of this subtle instrument. And from their musical expression, it is more than obvious that almost everything can be played on the ukulele, and moreover, it just sounds great. If you are looking for an interesting and likable musical instrument that can be played easily, discover the magic of the ukulele.

Where did the ukulele come from?
When you say ukulele, a lot of people think it’s a stupid prank or a breakthrough tongue breaker, those who know a strange little stringed musical instrument with a strange sound. The ukulele has its origins in Hawaii, where it appeared in the second half of the nineteenth century. From there, it has spread around the world over the last century and has gained immense popularity, which continues to this day. Unlike the guitar, the ukulele has much smaller dimensions, making it suitable not only for adults but also for children. You can easily store the tool anywhere or pack it with you on a trip. It resembles a small guitar and usually has only four strings. An undeniable advantage is also the lower price, which makes it an ideal partner for any environment – to the pub, to the water or to the campfire.

Of course, like other musical instruments, the ukulele has various forms. We distinguish four basic types: soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. The soprano ukulele represents the original form and sound of the instrument. GCEA strings are not ranked from deepest to highest, as is usually the case with string instruments. In addition, the string G is tuned an octave higher, which forms the essence of the specific sound of this type of instrument. The concert ukulele is a larger version of the original instrument, compared to which it has a fuller and louder sound. This is usually the case: the larger the body, the deeper and louder the sound the instrument makes. This type of ukulele is suitable for all beginners, it has wider frets, so it is also accessible to adult players who are used to playing the guitar. The tenor ukulele is a taller sibling of a concert instrument, tunes the same and has a deeper and louder sound again. Thanks to its larger dimensions, the tool is more suitable for adult players. The baritone ukulele is the youngest and largest variant of the original instrument. It differs from other types by tuning (DGHE), which corresponds to the four higher strings on a guitar. That’s why the transition to ukulele is more intuitive for guitarists.

How about him
Learning to play the ukulele is no big science. It is a simple and accessible tool suitable for almost everyone. More experienced players can do it themselves, for example with the help of video lessons, beginners can learn with a lecturer.

NO SLEEP NOVI SAD Awakened by Guarana

This festival stage will offer a four-day celebration of alternative electronics. Every year, the stage presents the atmosphere of leading European clubs and music platforms, and this year is no different! If you want to experience the atmosphere of the legendary Berlin club Watergate or the flagship of the Madrid techno scene, the Fabrik club, then don’t miss the DJs and live sets on this stage.

India and the alternative have their place on the EXIT festival again on the Visa Fusion stage. At the head of the program of this stage is the legend Marky Ramone, who will be joined by the Finnish post-hardcore band Blind Channel, the Turkish dark-wave duo She Past Away or the promising Serbian band KOIKOI.

In the moats of the Petrovaradin Fortress, visitors will traditionally expect tides of wild hardcore, punk and metal. After three years, the Explosive stage returns to its original location and is headed by punk legends The Exploited, which will be joined by bands such as Discharge, Bury Tomorrow, Moscow Death Brigade, The Undertones and many others.

Rap and trap fans will also enjoy themselves at the EXIT festival. The Gang Beats stage will host over 50 concerts this year. Sajsi MC and a number of great names of the domestic rap scene will bring an irreplaceable hip-hop and trap-like atmosphere.

The most important stop for any drum’n’bnass fan and anyone who will feel the excess of dance energy will definitely be the X-BASS PIT stage. Under the curatorial supervision of the Drop Sensei team, visitors can look forward to the best selection of d’n’b performers such as Thys, Harriet Jaxxon or LSB and many others. EXIT Festival will offer almost 250 performances on a total of eleven large stages and a number of other zones. Rhovea friend, with him on the stage for the performance, throws himself on the audience during his live… or he performs Stage divingwhich is usually done by the artist but we postpone it.

There was something poetic about the S.tage diving rock singers with their cursed air.

It happened in April a Blanco that, launched on the public, no one took him … not even divine providence since he was live in the Vatican. Maybe he thought he was walking on “crowds”.

It happened again to a member of the crew of Rhove a few days ago during the Live beats as they sang Shakerando (Click here). And this time it went much worse.

It wasn’t the boy she wanted to pay for it surfer on the public, but the three unfortunates who remained below. Two girls and a boy ended up in the hospital.

Here is what happened, as told by the same to Webboh:

The friend of Rhove he launched himself from the stage, at a distance of about 4 meters. He flew and fell on top of us. We got hurt. I was stunned and I did not understand anything and the first thing I see the friend running away is the camera that is filming us. Then I turned around and saw my boyfriend. Someone from the staff approached me and my friend. Security let us out without asking how we were doing. They only medicated my boyfriend. I found him outside after I called him.

We went to the hospital the next day. My friend and I have a contracture and bruise, she in the neck and I in the shoulder and wrist. My fiance has a swollen eye and a cut under the cheekbone. Rhove and his friend have not contacted us. Now we report it: I hope such a thing does not happen again. He could have endangered not only us, but himself and the public as well, creating a shock wave and creating panic. We are sorry that no one, not even Radio Norba e Live beats they apologized.

This is the video of what happened, which went viral in a short time:

We should just report the facts, tell what happened, but there are habits that can ruin the party that must be the music.

As in the ’00s where it was customary pogare and, if some small person or a girl were in the midst of this thrusting crowd like no rugby players at a game, it was no longer a party. At least for her.

Now the fashion is to launch on the public, an unknown public, often made up of little girls and young girls. Whoever launches does not know if he will end up on a thug able to support him or on a person who, for various reasons, cannot do it.

They weren’t ready.

Comment by Rhove accompanied by the loud laugh emoji, definitely out of place.

This is the rapper’s initial comment on the facts but then he took a step back with these words …

I’m sorry for the guys who were overwhelmed by my partner Mino at the Battiti live we didn’t think anyone was hurt
This is our show and we have perhaps brought it into a different environment than usual, coming out of the box also entails this.
Sorry to the guys, I hope we got over it

In short, when the patch is worse than the hole. Going out of the box is right, but without hurting others and if you throw yourself into the public, maybe it would be the case that someone checks that no one is left … under! Rhove, it is known, is a lover of extreme sports. Him, in fact.

“Jump For Joy”, recorded in New York, is featured in “O Ritmo de Gil”, a virtual museum produced by Google

Gilberto Gil seemed fully prepared for two extremely significant events in 1982. The first, recording another album, especially aimed at the North American market, with songs of his own, in English. The second event on the agenda would be to complete the historic milestone of 80 years of life. Oh, and lots of influential music.

After that, the world spun around a lot until it made peace with the 80s. Today, thanks to state-of-the-art technology from Googlethe artist born on June 26, in Salvador, Bahia, was able to make available to fans Jump For Joyhis mythical “lost record” generated four decades ago, in addition to providing a true archaeological site of his career.

All this can be explored immediately on the digital platform Gil’s Rhythm, inaugurated by North American big tech on its channel Google Arts & Culture to celebrate the 80th anniversary of our pop minstrel.

Gilberto Gil: the story behind Jump For Joy

André Midani, then chief executive of the label Warner, was responsible for Gilberto Gil to bet on compositions in English to continue the bets on the international market. More specifically, in the ever-profitable US music industry.

The first attack had been with Nightingale, recorded and released in 1979 with the support of the brilliant Sergio Mendes – another Brazilian artist with enormous reception abroad. the success of Nightingale served as the impetus for the album that would bear the name of Jump For Joy.

Recorded between January and February 1982, in New York, the work had the production of Ralph MacDonald (1944-2011), famous for his partnerships with jazz legends of the Ron Carter e George Benson.

MacDonald stepped in, alongside sound engineer Recorded by sound engineer Richard Alderson, to shed light on what would become the nine tracks of Jump For Joy after nearly two months of sessions at Rosebud Studios in freezing New York.

In addition to the production of MacDonald (who also plays percussion on the record), Gil’s team was reinforced with Marcus Miller on the bass, Richard Teeus keyboards, Grover Washington playing sax and the mythical Steve Gadd on drums. Gadd, by the way, had recently shared the studio with Paul McCartney (another genius who has just turned 80) to record the albums Tug Of War e Pipes Of Peace.

In turn, the most stellar guest of the project, Roberta Flack, appears sharing vocals with Gil on the title track.

Jump For Joy: The Mysterious Fate of the Master Tape

After finalizing the album that would later be baptized as Jump For Joy (title chosen from track 2 of the original tape), Gil left for Brazil to pursue other projects.

While the fate of the material recorded in the US was decided, Gil went on a tour with only voice and guitar and returned to the studio to create the LP. One Band One – the successor to the extremely successful Outside (1981).

During box production Stage (the second in the singer’s discography), Gilberto Gil explained to the project’s producer, Marcelo Fróesthe possible reasons for Jump For Joy did not go as planned.

When they sent me the cassette (already mixed and assembled), I said I didn’t like it”, explained Gil. “Although, it even had interesting things. Two or three tracks had a touch of Jamaican, with the addition of steel drum, but I didn’t think it was a complete and complete record”, justified the artist.

Marcelo Fróes, in an interview with music non stop, reflects on the rescue of the album, forty years after its creation – and twenty years after being invited by Gil to prepare the box Stagemarketed in 2002.

When I started projects at Universal and Warner I was able to access the record companies’ archives and listen to Gil’s professionally recorded material. The abundance of material was enormous and I did not even consider using material from cassette tapes”, recalls Fróeswho had learned of Warner’s intentions to rescue the master tape from Jump For Joy.

After that, I looked up Gil and asked him if he had things like demos and home recordings. One day I went to his house and he opened a drawer full of tapes. He put it all in a bag for me and I took it home to listen. I heard the “American record”, knew it existed. Warner itself was already working on the possibility of finally releasing it. The problem is that the original master tape never showed up.”, says Fróes.

What we had was a recording with altered rotation. Gil appreciates it with a George Benson voice. So this wasn’t even considered to be released. Until that moment, only deceased artists had projects released from cassette tapes. Elis Regina, Cazuza, Raul Seixas… And as I already had a lot of official material from him, I didn’t consider using the tape, at the same time the record company was chasing the master in New York”, complements the award-winning producer from Rio.

After Gil’s project, in 2002, I was doing other works by artists. I started working at Discoveries, founded in 2008, and the first release, a show by Ze Ramalho, was taken from cassette. The Lonely Troubadour, by Renato Russo, was also taken from a cassette tape. Then, the prejudice against the tapes began to disappear. Content is now more important than technical quality”, confirms Marcelo Fróes.

Happy with the rescue of his files and the magnificent tribute paid by Google, Gilberto Gil apparently revised his opinion about Jump For Joywhich officially arrives for the first time to the public, with a little big help from the researchers Ricardo Schott and Chris Fuscaldo.

Although the master tape is still missing, Schott and Fuscaldo found a digitized version of the New York work in Gil’s archives while selecting material for digitization and inclusion in Google’s commemorative project.

Ralph (MacDonald) was very happy with the record”, recalls Gil. “He really wanted to combine Brazilian and American pop, adding Caribbean influences to the project. Looking at it from this angle, it’s a beautiful album.”, concludes today the most versatile Brazilian composer alive.

The American pro-rock band Mars Volta has released their first new material in ten years. The song “Blacklight Shine” is the first music by Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez under the banner of this formation from the sixth series “Noctourniquet” from 2012. The video was provided by Omar Rodriguez himself and moved us to a sunny Cuban beach. The novelty is strongly influenced by Latin music. Bixler-Zavala sings in Spanish, the song is dominated by a percussion jam, which reminds us of Santana’s early work, for example. In the middle, the song spans a much more funky, straightforward plane. However, the 11-minute experiment completely lacks the typical elements that the audience was used to in the past: sharp guitar solos, crazy effects and pulsating rhythm changes. Nothing. “Blacklight Shine” is a tasting of completely different worlds that Rodriguez began to explore with Bosnian Rainbows and Zavala with Anywhere. And maybe it’s a world they’re now invading like Mars Volta. Unfortunately, this is one of the tracks for which such long footage definitely doesn’t make sense, and over time, all that intoxicating fun and relaxation disappears from it. After the break-up of Mars Volta, the duo Zavala / Rodriguez threw themselves into the work under the banner of another band, Antemasque. The gentlemen made their eponymous debut with her in 2014. At that time, drummer David Elitch and bassist Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers added them to the line-up. In 2017, they also revived their first formation, At The Drive In. In the same year, they also released their fourth album “In • ter a • li • a”, the first in seventeen years. The pair are still hiding further details about any other studio girls. Over the past weekend, however, she offered her fans one pleasant surprise in Los Angeles. She set up a mysterious box in the local Grand Park. If you walk in, you can listen to their new music. However, entry is only allowed without a telephone.

Giusy Ferreri Cause text and audio effect

We are part of everything
Everything part of us, everything starts with us
We are always connected
We are all connected but not with each other
It is fast love that turns on and off in a neon light
These are the most beautiful years, earrings and rings

If we remain silent it makes the same noise as a twist
It is a race for success
But don’t you see the finish line is already behind your back
You don’t like it normal if it is normal in your opinion to be alone
It is among the most beautiful eyes, Your eyes are the most beautiful

Don’t tell me where you are
That sooner or later
It is the world that changes you
But we change the world
Because I know you, you are like my fault
We are cause and effect
We are cause and effect

The effect you make on me
It never scares me
It will be future now
Now it’s us
Because I know you, you are like my fault
We are cause and effect, We are cause and effect
We are cause and effect

With my bare hands
Touching the patrols on a summer day I keep hearing from you
Like the song of a whale in the sea
But you want me at night
And he wants me as you imagine me
I feel different, I don’t have an answer
The cause and the effect are you

Don’t tell me where you are
That sooner or later
It is the world that changes you
But we change the world
Because I know you, you are like my fault
We are cause and effect
We are cause and effect

The effect you make on me
It never scares me
It will be future now
Now it’s us
Because I know you, you are like my fault
We are cause and effect, We are cause and effect

Between us the space of a breath
that I live
Between us we can change the world
We can do it now
We are cause and effect, We are cause and effect

Don’t tell me where you are
That sooner or later
It is the world that changes you
But we change the world
Because I know you, you are like my fault
We are cause and effect, We are cause and effect
The effect you make on me
It never scares me
It will be future now
Now it’s us
Because I know you, you are like my fault
We are cause and effect, We are cause and effect
We are cause and effect

A new potential summer hit is ready to come out. On June 24th it will be available on all streaming platforms such as Spotify and in online stores Hula-Hoopthe second single collaboration between Carl Brave e Noemi.

After last year’s extraordinary success with Makumba (Triple Platinum certified) the two artists return to collaborate for a song with a captivating style, light but at the same time refined and unmistakable. With the song the two worlds of the singers merge, just like the previous single, but neither of them is distorted in any way.

The meaning of the text of Hula Hoop by Carl Brave and Noemi

Here are with what words Carl Brave talked about this new featuring:

The Olympic stadium and aperitifs, infinite vowels and duets for fun. Veronica and I have the same view on many things. A musical and personal ‘harmony’ so beautiful that I thought – even as a superstitious fan – that a team that wins cannot be changed. We had such a good time last year that we decided to do it again! “,

Noemi he then added:

In this last year, Carlo and I have formed a sincere relationship of artistic esteem and have become friends. For me it was natural to answer “I am here!” to his proposal to return to the studio. I think this great affinity and the fun we feel when we are together is also evident from this new song. From the first guitar chords we understand that it is our piece. HULA-HOOP has a sound that now distinguishes us, poised between the brightness of summer and the refinement of certain sounds such as that of the marimba or the guitars that taste like summer. It was very nice to find ourselves in music too ”.

The song, apparently, will have a vintage sound and a bit of other times. The lyrics of the song have both an ironic and a romantic flavor and speak of the metaphor of life, which with its difficulties makes us all remain balanced inside a hula hoop.

On All Music Italia you will find audio and lyrics of the song at the stroke of midnight on June 24th. Come back to these shores soon!

Hank Levine e Paola Barbieri Pasquali interviewed the band Francisco El Hombre during their tour of Spain

If many forget that Spain is a kingdom, even fewer people must know that “offending the monarchy” of Juan Carlos I can lead to imprisonment. That’s what happened to the rapper Pablo Hasel in 2018. Maybe that’s why the crowd watching the band Francis The Man at the close of the Murmura Festival in Andalusian lands, on May 21, he hesitated to repeat the order of decapitation of the royal head proposed on stage by its members.

“If you sing in Portuguese, there is no censorship!” someone proposed. Band and audience then chanted, in explosive unison, the phrase that gives the title to this article. It was two o’clock in the morning and the party was just getting started.

A few hours earlier, we met with FEH for an interview in the courtyard of the inn in Laujar de Andarax, a pre-Spanish Civil War construction. Around us there were chairs nailed to the walls, lots of artichoke flowers, the town church tower and a donkey named Baldomero. Arriving from the Canary Islands, FEH was preparing for what would be the sixth show of the Spanish tour, at a festival situated in a bucolic setting between the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean Sea.

Eric Gilbet e Sara Peyton, do festival Threefort

The conversation started with the brothers Mateo (vocals and guitar) and Sebastián (vocals, drums) and the interpreter LAZÚLI (Ju Strassacapa, vocals, percussion) going over the history of the politicized hippie band that no longer accepted the unfair fees of the scene alternative and preferred to pass the hat on the square, literally.

The band has gone through different musical phases throughout its history. Can you talk about them? What stage are you in now?

Sebastian: In the initial phase, we were a band that passed hats in the square with voice and guitar, playing songs that reflected our art, so they were acoustic, repetitive, very participatory, very happy songs. “SOLTASBRUXA” (2016) was our debut album, “pre-teen”, because the band was still starting to discover itself. Our follow-up album RASGACABEZA (2019) is the band’s “teenager” album, an angry, aggressive, unstable album. The end of the RASGACABEZA album tour culminated with the pandemic and leaving the road destabilized FEH. Stopping the geographic movement made us rethink a lot, our internal relationships, made us understand for the first time what these almost 10 years on the road were. It connected us with what we had left aside for a long time, and the feeling we have is that, if in the first EP (2014) the first track on the album is called “Para Além da Porta do Mundo, with the album “Casa Francisco” ( 2021) we return home in a more mature way, with new wrinkles, new gray hair and new experiences and we get closer to the pre-teen “We” we were at the beginning of the band. “Casa Francisco” is a more homely record, more ours, a return to the nest.

Francisco El Hombre tour poster in Europe

You can tell more about this track “Arranca a Cabeça do Rei”.

Mateo: We’re still going to release it and it’s going to be our work song for the next few months. It speaks clearly about the moment we are living, in this final stretch of the Bolsonaro government. The current moment in Brazil is a moment that requires manifestation. People come from an extremely violent country in their speech because their spokesman, the president, has a speech that praises torturers, a speech that is racist, fascist, sexist. And this political crisis of discouragement, in the middle of an election year. This is not a time to sit still and pretend that nothing happens. So now is the time to join hands, put purpose forward and carry our message. And that message is RIP OFF THE KING’S HEAD!

Sebastián: FEH they have a lot of songs with a political slant, some more direct and some less. “Matilha”, “Bolsonada”, “Triste, Louca ou Má” are songs that carry political movements that we believe are urgent and necessary, but there are other songs that can also be an invitation to rethink attitudes, which perhaps enter the ear in a more subtle, as in the case of “Coração Acorda”. Depending on the weather, we try to bring music in one way or another to reach our goal of transforming, trying to bring that lightness, that “relaxation”, that entertainment that is necessary. But also with a view to May a festive Friday turn into a thoughtful weekend and perhaps a transformative Monday.

LAZULI: For me, our music now comes as a lullaby, which is something that we felt we needed to bring to the album “Casa Francisco”. It was time to bring just sensitivity, compassion, union, affection and joy, especially. After a lot of chaos, which we also talked about in previous albums, we felt that the moment calls for something new. IT IS very revolutionary to be cheerful and be happy. I think it’s one of the messages on the disk.

How is the tour in Spain going? And your impressions of the Murmura Festival?

Sebastian and Mateo: It’s cute, it’s “VERY COOL” [expressão espanhola que quer dizer legal, massa]. We played 5 shows in a row: Barcelona, Donostia, Madrid, Gran Canaria, Mojo Music and today we played here in Almería. For the audience that doesn’t speak Portuguese, we need to remake the show and use some of what we learned playing on the street, captivate the independent audience, bring our independent message if people are willing to listen. The place is very beautiful and it seems that we are in a dreamlike experience.

What was the experience of playing on the street like for you?

Sebastián: Very enriching, very fun, but very tiring. To make a good presentation you have to give everything and at that stage we did it to pay our bills. It was 3 very intense years, 2 to 3 shows a day, we played in restaurants in exchange for food, in hotels for accommodation, and on the street passing the hat. With this routine, creating this expectation in the public, the money we raised was greater than in conventional bars, in our case in the alternative scene. In addition, we were able to create a more real audience. So we understood that, in addition to learning, this was also a much more promising way for the band to grow.

Mateo: This improvised format, of playing on the street, when unexpected, generates a much more unforgettable memory for the audience, because this show is unique. I take this opportunity to quote David Byrne: music has the power to adapt to where it is played. And that’s something that is essential in artists: the ability to adapt and touch people with music.

With an unexpected and shrill bray, Baldomero the donkey interrupts our interview, announcing that it’s time to eat. Dona Lola, the owner of the inn, who was returning from feeding her pet, asks the question: “But who is this Francisco?”

Sebastián: Francisco El Hombre is a legendary character from Colombia that I discovered reading the book “100 Years of Solitude”, by Gabriel García Márquez. The character travels with his accordion, from square to square, singing about what he learned along the way. So, in a way, he was the one who carried the news, people sat down to listen and learn about events in the rest of the country and at the same time he did it with a good “wave”. And what we do is this: traveling through cities communicating what we are learning along the way with a good wave, with our music and parties, making our festive political denunciation.

Finally, Dona Lola tells us that, a long time ago, there was a time of year when it was allowed to go out and dance, without shame or censorship, and people on that day could sing their criticisms and blasphemies to those who governed, and they would not be victims of retaliation or reprisals. It was a pagan festival of almost all the ancient peoples of Almería and it was called carnival. And as it should be, in the midst of so much nature, the wise voice of experience made us all shut up. “Attention, attention to the last song.”
